I'm especially excited about offering this Healing-Centred Life retreat. Life is healing-centred at its core, healing is a property of all living systems - it's time to awaken to its regenerative and evolutionary potential for ourselves, and for the world. We need to reclaim the notion of healing, from a narrowly therapeutic experience, to being an ongoing process essential for all of Life.
Taking a healing-centred approach allows us to include and transcend trauma-informed awareness and practice, useful as those may be, and to access the morphic resonance, the deep collective memory, of healing itself. Then we can partner with its powerful, natural processes - for ourselves, our communities, the different organisations and sectors we work in, our environment...
'Healing Centred Life' will be an opportunity to honour your own experience as a powerful teacher and the generative centre for the healing and regeneration that is wanting to flow through your life, work, and relationships. Held in The Lost Gardens of Heligan, with its own remarkable history of transformation, we'll integrate the energy and wisdom of this breath-taking space to support our learning together.
Many visitors comment that they experience Heligan as a healing place, and so it is fitting that Heligan is an anagram of the word 'healing'.
The Lost Gardens could well be thought of as the lost gardeners of Heligan - most of these men never returned from the battlefields of WW1, and over time, the remarkable gardens which they tended became buried under towering thickets of brambles. The gardens were rediscovered in 1990 by Tim Smit, later founder of The Eden Project, and John Willis, and restoration began soon afterwards.
Heligan is a powerful example of the regeneration and bio-diversity that is possible, not by excluding humans, but through the wonderful partnership that is possible when we learn to listen and dance together. From the towering tree ferns that thrive in the unique microclimate of this valley, to the re-introduction of beavers that can mitigate flooding risks to the village below, to the regenerative farming practices that have been restoring wild-flower meadows and the local produce which is transformed into nourishing dishes - Heligan is full of inspiration.
